THE SQUATTING MOVEMENT IN NEW YORK
Victories and Defeats Over the Past Decade
Shaun roaddawgz.org, May 10, 2004
There is a small section of society that shuns the capitalistic ways of their fellow man. They have found many ways to live around the normal rules of society. They discovered that they can survive on the waste and excess of the mainstream (i.e abandoned buildings used for housing). Thus, the “squatting” movement was born.

SURVIVAL ON THE BRICKS
Joey roaddawgz.org, Mar 01, 2004
if we all use the help there for us, then together we can take care of each other and learn that true survival comes from giving and not from taking

SQUATTING
Joleen roaddawgz.org, Jan 21, 2004
There are days when I feel paranoid that the owner will come and find me sitiing on the floor,
listening to jazz and reading poetry. So I leave and wander this city of lost souls, weaving through puddles of dreams on my bicycle.

MY LIFE
Stefan roaddawgz.org, Oct 16, 2003
What the hell were we going to, do pass of one of few random things the cops had already confiscated and thrown away? Or perhaps he thought we were contacting aliens through a psychic gateway, which can only be reached when we were close. He started interrogating us as to our motives, our birthplaces and other things which were either completely irrelevant or not his goddamn business. Finally I said, “Look, can you just gather up our shit and get us on our way? I would like to get out one time to watch this on the evening news.

SQUATTING & THE HUMAN RIGHT TO SHELTER
Sapphire roaddawgz.org, Jul 21, 2003
Shelter (self-autonomous) is the right of EVERY LIVING HUMAN BEING. I believe this makes a good case for squatter’s rights in general, not to mention the variance of life experiences, the gestalt exercise of keeping personal space sacred, as well as allowing for the self-expression and dignity of others as we go about our life, living, and rebirth in these times of limitless possibility.

RANDOM SQUATS
Gail Goynes roaddawgz.org, Mar 24, 2003
Squatting can be fun. I have squatted in a few different places in this city. Squatting means to stay in an abandoned building. I was staying in a really nice one recently until the police shut it down.

GET THE FLESH EATING MONKEY OFF YOUR BACK
Ojai roaddawgz.org, Feb 10, 2003
The first time around, kicking dope is hard, but the more times you kick, the harder it gets. So if this is your first time being strung out, please don't start using again! One of the hardest things in the dope world is not kicking dope, but staying off it.

HELPFUL GADGETS
Bearrington Kennedy roaddawgz.org, Feb 10, 2003
There are lots of little things I carry around in my pack that have made my life on the road or on the streets much easier. Some have even saved my life. I have listed some here in the hopes that you might find them useful, also.
