The Potential Damage of Sit & Lie

A personal experience of anti-homeless ordinances
1 of 1
in the city of San Francisco.
This is but a brief note in the micro chasm of time and space from a single individual, homeless citizen by city standards, but housed and nurtured by nature and my fellow roaddawgz love, support and contributions this past month.
This essay is for you all.
As you might know, the proposal to make sitting and sleeping on the city sidewalks illegal passed in Portland, Oregon a while back, and now Mayor Gavin Newsom has come up with a bright idea in collaboration with city law enforcement to introduce and eventually implement the Sit and Lie Ordinance in conjunction with the recent deception of the passing 90-day shelter bed placement system,
Alarming sentiment of opposition from the city of San Francisco is already brewing in the public spectrum, deeply rooted from the information digests in the liberal underground media.
Should this law be passed, as Mayor Gavin Newsom initially intends, many if not all of us would possibly be forced to undergo the 90-day bed shelter placement system through professional drop-in facilities such as MSC-South and the Capp Street Community Outreach Center on 17TH and Capp; or face jail time and detoxify...as it is in Portland, Oregon.
However this would place many of the resulting disadvantaged homeless remnants on the street longer, resulting in more preventable deaths and furthering the City Officialsí agenda to deviate the prioritization of the budget away from those who need it the most and allocate the money towards the middle & high class homeownership & condominium enterprise community.
My personal experience of how things already are, having to maintain a tent with my best friend D.J. Marcellus, takes place at our turf. The area is known by many who work nearby to be a kind of sanctuary... calm... and serene. We love it, as we live among the other road dogs who live in their buses and trailers along the sidewalks, most of whom are Rastafarian shamans, similar to myself, although very different in practice. Case in point, itís known to be one of the most peaceful and serene spots in the city, and anyone I know in the general area will agree. Itís the best place to even take a smoke break! Hahaha!
Well...ok so itís not exactly perfect. But itís better than nothing at all, seriously, I mean who doesnít mind having to move their entire house around an entire city blockís radius five times in less than a week to impress the egos of the cops whose boost comes from a sense of self-satisfaction from public duty to the mayorís lapdog enforced agenda to subliminally and craftily subjugate our desire to live freely, homeless or otherwise in order to craft a new perfect vision of the City by the Bay involving billion dollar condos and high class apartment projects that do nothing to benefit or house the minorities or unhoused.
Anyway, my mind has a tendency to wander like this but keep up with me. You see I have to deal with other pestering, meddlesome, homeless derelicts who leave their garbage or park their shopping carts and cause headaches for the management of the factories in the surrounding area as well as create obstacles in the daily work ethic for Marcellus and myself. For the past seven days, starting around the 14th of this month, weíve had to deal with the cops forcing us to move five different times under the highway. If the Sit & Lie ordinance passes per the mayorís agenda, my ďroaddawgĒ Marcellus and I possibly stand to lose everything we have left of our lives. All thatís left of my own life following my eviction over a month ago is stored safely in three small suitcases under his watchful protection.
We know how to earn our keep and keep our shit straight and in order. But itís problems like garbage, drunks, and freeloading tweakers who steal our food and clothing, that attract D.P.W. and the SFPD to bug us and look over our shoulder as we sleep eat and share knowledge and wisdom throughout the days of the week whenever we live in peace. Ironic isnít it? How... the mayor doesnít even understand how his recklessness these past few months has only led to further fuel the fire of conflict brewing between even the very homeless themselves! My personal opinion on the matter of the quality of life for each individual homeless adolescent, disabled, war vet, and road dog, is only my own in an ocean of many countless opinions from people in different age groups, circumstances, and personal experiences of the life on the street.
Based off my own personal experience with the quality of my life on the street against the law of the land in the middle of an unfair evolution to hide us from the cityís citizenry or eradicate us in rebellion, I believe the majority of us are definitely not ignorant as to the plight of our circumstances as a whole. This is evident in the results of the vote to repeal the proposed Sit and Lie Law five whole months in advance before it hits the ballot on November 2.
The city is watching itís electorates; it knows what the Board of Supervisors are trying their utmost to do to favor both sides of the conflict brewing between the poverty stricken & unhoused, and middle class nobles. The mayor continues to take the heat for all that places him in disfavor with both sides.
Heís probably unaware that as the Board continues to work with and around him in honor of their own individual, respective community leaders and contributors, every voter in support of the repeal - and every homeless advocate and unhoused citizen throughout- are sitting back behind the scenes, silently watching... waiting for the day, when they can come together and celebrate the moment homeless people can live as one with those who voted in their favor on that second day of November, come this year.
And I shall bear witness and see truly where this city is heading after then... For on that day, I may not only have to move my own house around the Division Spiritual Sanctuary for good...I may have to cast it away to the money earning city dogs of DPW as I once again and for the final time in my lifetime, lose my life, lose my livelihood, and ultimately, my identity, my destiny, and my purpose, submitting to my most feared sacrifice, me, as I am, who I am, for the good of what this universe has planned for us all.
So please, we are watching... donít think we donít know as much as we need to know to make sense of bullshit from facts... Do the right thing.
Vote for humanity, not for the re-institution of slavery. Vote for my human potential as a Shamanic Priest and Spiritually Transcendental Artist, not for another meaningless aesthetic piece of street decor to mask the truth of my existence. Iím stuck on this Earth with the rest of you, get used to it.
